Objectives and scopes

ANNALS of the Institute of American Art and Aesthetic Investigations “Mario J. Buschiazzo” (hereinafter referred to as the “ANNALS of the IAA”) is an annual publication started in 1948 as an instrument for the spreading of investigations on the histories of the city, its architecture and designs, preferably referred to Latin America. It is a publication supported and financed by the University of Buenos Aires, which publishes a print edition and an online edition, and provides open access to its content.

Within the context of these topics, it may include some papers focusing on epistemological or methodological matters or on the discussion of some specific problems as a result of completed or ongoing investigations that make original contributions to the discipline or field and that are accepted by the Publishing Committee of the publication. Given the characteristics of the disciplinary fields of specialty dealt with by the journal, particular emphasis will be put on the weighting of those texts that, besides being based on rigorous investigations, would put forward critical reflections, original interpretations or innovative discussions, and are committed with the study of history and design, in their various trends, thus contributing to build and consolidate their epistemological bases and expanding the field of the knowledge.

The magazine is mainly addressed to researchers, teachers and university students of design, art and history; as well as to professionals of design, architecture, urbanism, history and related branches of design and arts. The profile of the public to which the Journal is addressed contributes to the dissemination and exchange between local, national and foreign research, and therefore both national and international contributions are published.

Contributors are hereby invited to send papers that match the objectives and scopes mentioned above. Every paper received will be evaluated by means of a double-blind refereeing system, whereby two specialists will determine the feasibility of its publication. The research articles sent must be original material in the language of publication. Said condition, as well as the transference of copyrights, shall be expressly stated on a note signed by the author/s thereof.

The main working language of the journal is Spanish but original articles are also accepted in English, French, and Portuguese for evaluation purposes. If accepted, they must be translated into Spanish. In all cases the articles must be accompanied by a summary (around 150 words) in Spanish and English (abstract) and at least four key words in Spanish and English (keywords).

Both authors and publishing institutions are also encouraged to submit their publications to be dealt with in critical comments or “Reviews” of ANNALS of the IAA, provided that they match the topics and objectives above mentioned. The author or publisher may send a copy of the book and, prior evaluation, ANNALS of the IAA will invite a specialist to draft the corresponding review. Likewise, reviews already written may be received, by following the same procedure as that in the case of articles.

ANNALS of the IAA is indexed in the Directory of Periodic Publications of Latindex. It has also been incorporated into the Basic Hub of Argentine Scientific Journals [Núcleo Básico de Revistas Científicas Argentinas], currently composed of 193 scientific journals. Said Basic Hub of Argentine Scientific Journals is a project of the National Council of Scientific and Technical Investigations (CONICET) that establishes a set of Argentine scientific and technological publications in the various fields of knowledge that are submitted to a thorough evaluation with unique defined quality and transcendence standards.
